This collection contains various records from former Whitworth baseball coach, Paul J. Merkel. These records include personal and corporate correspondence, publications, and other records from Merkel’s time during and after his coaching career at Whitworth University.
Japanese American Alumni during WWII Records
Grant funded interview project recording the experiences of Japanese American students during World War II. Thirty interviews were conducted with alumni from Eastern Washington colleges and universities who were at college during the war years.

This collection was constructed from a copy of two journals of Martha Simonton Bell written in the years 1907- 1914. These journals are held at the Montana Historical Society, Helena, MT. Focus was the pages on the year 1913-1914 when Martha was a freshman at Whitworth College which was at that time in Tacoma, WA. Photographs from the general collection, news articles and genealogical research flesh out the collections.
