The Toledo Community Presbyterian Church was built in 1890 under the leadership of the Rev. R. T. Brouillet. (NOTE: Abstracted from the 75th Diamond Anniversary Program, June 26, 1966.) The sanctuary was dedicated in May 1991. Earliest records gave the church membership as 25 and the Sunday School as 40.

In 1927 the church building was moved from Second and Ash Streets in Toledo to a new site on Augustus Street at a cost of $365. The Presbyterian Board of National Missions made a loan of $900 for the building of the manse. The old sanctuary was quite small -- only 22 feet wide which permitted only a center aisle between two rows of seats. However, it accommodated 60 to 70 pupils in seven classes.

A piano was purchased in 1928 to replace the old reed organ. An annex was added to the old building in 1940 under a loan from the Board of National Missions in the amount of $400, supplemented by cash of $200 and volunteer labor from the congregation. Then a small cottage was purchased for $800 in 1948 for Sunday School use.

In 1944, the congregation realized that the old church was outgrowing the antiquated buildings. A new building was proposed. On April 3, 1951 actual construction began. The entire structure was occupied and dedicated in March 1957.
