This collection consists mainly of photocopies or transcriptions of the diaries of Reverend Ralph Waldo Orr, a Presbyterian pastor in the Pacific Northwest during the early 20th century. Also included are pastoral records 1940-1956 and correspondence from family.

Biographical / Historical
: Reverend Ralph Waldo Orr was born on January 14, 1881. On September 22, 1906 he married Kate (Dunkle) Orr, and together they had three children: Don, Agnes, and Catherine. They lived in Lincoln, Nebraska, where Rev. Orr attended school at the University of Nebraska. In 1916 Rev. Orr was called to Armstrong, Iowa to preach at the Armstrong Presbyterian Church. Rev. Orr also traveled frequently to preach in other churches as well. In the early 1920’s, Rev. Orr and his family moved to the Belgrade, Montana area. Rev. Orr spent the next 15-20 years of his life in Montana, traveling around to preach in cities such as Bozeman, Manhattan, Helena, Billings, and Libby. In the early 1940’s Rev. Orr moved once again to Marcus, Washington where he continued his itinerate preaching. He retired from his church in Marcus, Washington in August of 1947. He then moved to Colville but continued to perform weddings, baptism, and funerals until his death in 1956.
