Biographical / Historical
The Presbyterian Church of Post Falls was organized August 10, 1890 by the Rev.W. C. Beebe and the Rev. John I. Thompson with 15 charter members. Its choir director was the founder of the town of Post Falls, Frederick Post.
In 1921 the Methodist and Presbyterian congregations were united to become the Community Presbyterian Church at the present site at 4th and Williams Streets in Post Falls.
In 1980 there were 95 members, a budget of $32,000 for expenses plus $5,800 for missions. In 1981 planning was begun for a new church building with support from Synod Mission Development Fund and property next to the church was purchased. In 1982 the average attendance was 145. In 1985, at the annual meeting, models of the new church building were displayed. Much of the construction of the new facility was done by volunteers.
The 100th anniversary of the church was celebrated August 11-12, 1990. The new sanctuary was completed in 1991 and an addition, seating 350, was dedicated in 2004.
The old sanctuary was converted into a community center for the residents of Post Falls.
