Biographical / Historical
Rev. Walter A. Soboleff was born in 1908 at the Tlingit village of Killisnoo, Alaska to an Alaskan native mother and Russian father. He served as a chaplain in the US military and served as pastor of Memorial Presbyterian Church in Juneau, Alaska from 1940-1963. He later worked at the University of Alaska Native Studies program and is also know for his work with Sealaska. He died in 2011 at age 102.

Abstract
This collection contains copies of articles on the life of Rev. Walter A. Soboleff. Included are census records from his early life, military records, yearbooks, activist activities, and documents from his work as a Presbyterian Pastor. Also included in the collection is one original Synod of Washington Minutes book with records from 1949-1953 as he was Elected Moderator of the Synod in 1952. The book includes a full page photograph of him.
