Biographical / Historical
The church began in 1887 with several Swedish families came to Spokane and began worshiping in “The Bachelor House”. This house became too small for the growing group, so they moved to a business building to worship there until the Great Fire of 1889. The Swedish Mission Church was founded in October 28, 1888 and the name Swedish Tabernacle was adopted on January 1, 1906. The church applied for membership to the Covenant in Chicago on May17, 1920. Bethany Home was built in Pasadena Park in 1919. From 1906-World War 1, the church experienced a lot of growth.
