Abstract

This listing is for a multipart collection of the business of the Nez Perce churches both separately and with their joint sessions. There is also a collection on the Nez Perce Language that is distinct from the churches themselves. Note: the materials are in their original form and there has been no identification of individual bias in writing or possibly hurtful content in terminology or materials.

Historical Note

The Presbyterian church sent missionaries to the Nez Perce nation in the mid-1830’s. Rev. Henry Spalding is the most notable in the early years but many missionaries followed and the ordained native pastors sustained the ministry of the churches for many years. This collection is made up of seven distinct parts listed below.

PNW 51-2 – Kamiah First Presbyterian Church – 1871-2018 (0.75 cu ft 2 boxes)

PNW 51-3 – Kamiah Second Presbyterian Church – 1957-2007 (0.5 cu ft 1 box)

PNW 51-4 – Lapwai Valley Presbyterian Church – 1938-2017 (2 cu. ft. 2 boxes)

PNW 51-5 – Spalding, Stites. Meadowcreek and Northfork Presbyterian Churches -- (0.5 cu ft 1 box)
