Biographical Note
Orrin E. Tiffany joined the faculty of Whitworth College in 1926 as professor of history. He succeeded Professor H. L. Hussong as dean of the College in 1927. The Board named Tiffany acting president on July 22, 1927. His wife became the registrar. At the time Dr. Tiffany took over administrative leadership he disclaimed any ambitions for the presidency. The folders in this file contain correspondence of Tiffany and his wife dealing mostly with recruitment of students and faculty during tumultuous times in the history of the College.
